BMJ Best Practice
BMJ Best Practice is now available to healthcare professionals in the Isle of Man, courtesy of the Isle of Man Government.
BMJ Best Practice gives healthcare professionals fast and easy access to the latest information when making diagnosis and treatment decisions. Updated daily, it draws on the latest evidence-based research, guidelines and expert opinion to offer step-by-step guidance on diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and prevention.
The agreement provides doctors, nurses, paramedics and community care professionals with guidance on the most common medical conditions which will improve knowledge and support the delivery of the very best care to patients.
You will be able to access the information in BMJ Best Practice at any time via the mobile responsive website, or offline with the award-winning app using your Athens log-in details.
The library service aims to provide quality resources to support the information needs of staff, primarily within the Department of Health and Social Care, supporting evidence-based decision making in clinical practice to enhance patient care, education and continuing professional development, research and life-long learning.
The library has however, extended its access policy to provide a service to anyone on the island who has a legitimate need to find and use health and social care information, including island charities, self-help groups and the private sector. In some circumstances, this may not always constitute access to the full range of library and information services, but walk-in use of print resources for reference are always offered to any individual who may need to use the service.
In addition, as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting extended opening hours the library has 24 hour access 7 days a week available for DHSC staff or affiliate partners via a proximity card. Please contact the library to see if you are eligible.
The library has self-issue facilities which allow for faster and more efficient borrowing and returning of books, so you won't have to wait in queues at the desk. The self-issue facilities enables users to borrow and return material whenever the building is open.
