Welcome to Health and Social Care Higher Education at Keyll Darree.

The team at Keyll Darree provide high quality education and resources for all health and social care staff on the Isle of Man. We are committed to support the Isle of Man Government priorities across all areas 'contributing to a sustainable educated, well trained and motivated workforce'.

The lecturers are all Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered nurses and educators in either adult or mental health fields. Across the team they have a range of clinical experience in senior positions within primary and secondary care services across the IoM and UK, and experience of teaching in a range of UK Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), as well as of research and publishing.

The programmes delivered are all validated and endorsed by external UK organisations (HEI and NMC) and are regularly assessed against relevant standards.

The programmes delivered are amended as required to meet the needs of Manx Care, Department of Health and Social Care and the Isle of Man to ensure that the education offered future proofs the health and social care services provided. The range currently includes:

  • Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF Health and Social Care Levels 2, 3 and 5)
  • Specialist community practitioner programme (BSc / MSc), advanced practitioner (MSc)
  • Non-medical prescribing (Level 6 and 7), professional practice (MSc)

There are also workshops on academic study to support those starting their learning journey, and a study advice service for those IoM Health and Social Care staff studying through us, or through any HEI through distance learning.

The library staff and resources support evidence-based decision making in clinical practice to enhance patient care, education and continuing professional development, research and life-long learning. Library provision is aligned to Health Education England (HEE), and the Mersey Deanery. The Library is also accredited annually by The Library Quality Assurance Framework (LQAF).

Keyll Darree Library is open 24/7 for those with a proximity card. This means that eligible users have access to the library to study and browse for resources outside staffed hours. Books can also be taking out using the self-circulation machine at the front desk. If you can't get to the library during staffed hours to return your books, there is a returns box in the coffee lounge by the canteen at Nobles Hospital.

Staffed hours are:

Monday to Thursday: 9am - 5pm and Friday 9am – 4pm.

Members of staff who work at Nobles automatically have out of hours access with their swipe card. Other out of hours access is provided on a case by case basis for those with a need to study. Applications for access can be made through the library.

The library offers regular taught sessions to ensure that users make the best use of the wide range of resources available. More information on the full range of library facilities and services is available.
