The Isle of Man Government is seeking to work in partnership with the voluntary sector to raise awareness of global development issues among local people.
The Island continues to play its part in efforts to create a better future for all the world’s citizens. Funds are used to provide a timely response to international humanitarian crises, as well as to assist projects that meet the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Isle of Man-registered charities are being invited to apply for a £30,000 Global Development Education and Awareness Grant to help promote a deeper understanding locally of the Island’s contribution to international development.
The annual grant will be awarded to a charity, or group of charities working together, to carry out a programme of activities that will engage and educate the local community, including Island schools.
Chief Minister Howard Quayle MHK said:
‘The Programme for Government sets out a policy to maintain our commitment to international development. As part of a refreshed approach we want to work with charities to increase public awareness of global development issues.’
He added:
‘Funding from the Isle of Man Government continues to make a genuine difference to people’s lives throughout the world. The projects and appeals we support help to address the root causes of poverty and hunger or to identify opportunities for better health and education. Our contribution also reinforces the Island’s reputation as a caring and internationally responsible country.
‘We are looking to harness the energy, passion and creativity in the voluntary sector to highlight the issues being faced in developing countries and how support from the Isle of Man is having a positive impact.’

The closing date for applications is Thursday 15 June 2017.
