Members of staff from the Isle of Man Prison have donated £900 to Hospice Isle of Man in memory of a former colleague.
Steve Bradley, who died earlier this year, worked 14 years in the Prison Service at Victoria Road in Douglas and at Jurby.
Friends and colleagues came together for a quiz night at Peel Golf Club, with Senior Officer Mike Pacey acting as quizmaster.
The event raised £800, which included the proceeds from the auction of a match ticket for the recent Merseyside derby donated by Keith Lord.
A dress down day organised by administration staff at the prison boosted the total by a further £100.
The cheque was presented by Steve Bradley’s grandchildren (front row, left to right) Rhys, Phoebe and Jake Moorley and prison officers (back row, left to right) Mike Pacey, Geoff Hathaway, Jimmy Hughes and Keith Lord.
Mike said:
‘Steve was a good friend and colleague who is sadly missed. We wanted to hold a fundraiser in his honour and donate the money to Hospice to thank them for the care and compassion they showed Steve during his final days. I would like to thank everybody who made the recent quiz night such a success. We are planning to organise an event each year from now on to keep Steve’s memory alive and to support local charities.’
