Consultation on care for older people to end soon

Wednesday, 13 July 2016

Members of the public are being reminded they have a few days left to give their views on proposals to develop social care services for older people over the next five years

The consultation, which was launched last month, seeks comments on issues relating to the care needs of a growing older population as life expectancies continue to rise.

Launching the consultation in June, Minister for Health and Social Care, Howard Quayle MHK, highlighted that the outcome of the consultation should be “the right care, at the right time, in the right place” and said that the community’s feedback was both “welcome and valued.”

A document outlining the Department’s commissioning intentions accompanies the consultation, setting out how the Department intends to provide, purchase and influence services to meet the needs and aspirations of older people for the period 2016 to 2021.

The consultation documents can be viewed here, with submissions required no later than Monday 18 July.
