Who are the Crisis Response and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT)?

The CRHTT provide an Island wide crisis response service for people who are experiencing significant deterioration in their mental health and/or an increase in their psychological distress which requires an urgent response to facilitate a resolution of crisis.

The CRHTT provides multi-disciplinary assessments and, if appropriate, offers home treatment as an alternative to hospital admission.

They will action agreed 'crisis plans' for identified Mental Health Service users out of normal office hours (9am to 5pm), including weekends and bank holidays. The team will support patients until their key worker returns to duty and may continue to offer assistance as part of a mutually agreed home treatment plan.

Interventions are intensive and short term and are designed to return the individual to a state of positive mental health.

Once the crisis has been resolved and there is an improvement in the individual's mental health, the CRHTT practitioners may negotiate with the individual (and if applicable their carers) to transfer their care to another part of the Mental Health Service.
