Appointments ending

From 29 April 2026, appointments will no longer take place at the Independent Living Centre (ILC) in the Central Community Health Centre.

The Community Adult Therapy Service (CATS) - a team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Technicians who supports people with physical disabilities or health conditions to stay safe and independent in their daily activities, has been running the ILC appointments.

Although the ILC appointments are ending, support from CATS is not changing.
CATS will continue to provide the same assessments and advice, but these will now happen in people’s homes. This approach has been chosen because the ILC has been under‑used, and many people needed a home visit afterwards anyway. Seeing people in their home environment helps staff understand their needs more fully and offer the most appropriate support.

Even though you can no longer book an appointment at the ILC, anyone who would previously have gone there can still access help from CATS whenever they need it. People can:

• Complete the CATS self‑referral form online
  
  
• Be referred by any health professional (including GPs, Consultants, Nurses, Social Workers, ward staff, or care home managers)

CATS remains fully available to support anyone who needs advice, equipment or guidance with everyday activities.
