Types of reportable diseases
Reportable animal diseases
Reportable means that if a laboratory gets a positive result or a veterinary surgeon becomes aware through a positive test result then they need to report them to the Chief Veterinary Officer via the animal health team.
Reportable animal diseases are:
- organisms of the genus Salmonella in any animals
- organisms of the genus brucella in any animals
- coxiella burnetii in cattle, sheep, camelids and goats
- severe acute respiratory coronavirus syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in any mammals (except humans)
'Animals' in this situation means bull, cow, steer, heifer, calf, water buffalo, bison, horse, deer, sheep, goat, pig, rabbit, dog, domestic fowl, turkey, goose, duck, guinea-fowl, pheasant, partridge, quail or pigeon.
