The Isle of Man has been successful in achieving ‘Third Country’ listing which will enable the Island to continue trading with the EU and the UK after BREXIT. One of the less well known aspects of BREXIT is that as a consequence, the Island will have to demonstrate clearly how it complies as an individual country.
Following on from this, the programme for testing for veterinary medicine residues will have to be expanded. Authorised Officers of the Animal & Plant Health team now undertake a broad and intensive range of residue sampling to fulfil the requirements of the ‘Third Country’ status.
The random sampling programme covers veterinary medicine residues in meat, milk, honey, blood and animal feed.
