Feral poultry

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture and the MSPCA, have seen a marked rise in the 'Dumping' of unwanted poultry, mainly cockerels, in various locations around the Island. Such 'dumping' of animals is the offence of 'abandonment' under The Cruelty to Animals Act 1997 and carries the risk of a custodial sentence or fine of up to £5000

Anyone wishing to dispose of unwanted birds should contact the MSPCA where appropriate arrangements can be made:
