Feral poultry

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture and the MSPCA, have seen a marked rise in the 'Dumping' of unwanted poultry, mainly cockerels, in various locations around the Island. Such 'dumping' of animals is the offence of 'abandonment' under The Cruelty to Animals Act 1997 and carries the risk of a custodial sentence or fine of up to £5000. The Isle of Man Constabulary are responsible for enforcing this legislation.

Please do not release birds onto land that is not your own, or feed any chickens that have been released into the wild unlawfully.

Please be aware of any restrictions due to Avian Influenza.
