How benefits are paid
If you’re entitled to a benefit or state pension it will usually be paid into your bank or online account.
We will ask you for details of your account when you make your claim.
We will write to tell you when your payments will start and how often you’ll be paid.
If you cannot open or manage a bank or online account
Contact us as soon as possible via phone +44 1624 685656 or email socialsecurity@gov.im.
If someone has been appointed to act for you in social security matters
Your benefit or state pension may be paid into either their bank or online account or yours, depending on what the person who has been appointed to act for you asks us to do.
More information is available on the 'Appointees, Agents and Alternative Payees' webpage.
Payments to third parties
In some cases we will pay some of your benefit or state pension to a third party, if it is considered to be in your or your family’s interests to do so. This may be, for example, to your housing or accommodation provider, the Manx Utilities Authority or Isle of Man Energy.
