Grants and Loans
A Budgeting Loan is an interest free loan to help you and your family spread the cost of items other than regular expenses. If you or your partner have been getting Income Support or income based Jobseeker's Allowance for at least 4 weeks you may be eligible for a loan. Budgeting Loans have to be paid back to the Social Security Division of the Treasury.
The House Improvement and Energy Conservation Scheme 2013 expired in April 2015 and the remaining budget is now fully committed. As a consequence the Scheme is now closed to new applications.
The Department of Education and Children provides financial support for students undertaking further or higher education, subject to meeting certain eligibility criteria.
The Vocational Training Assistance Scheme ('VTAS') is a discretionary scheme operated by the Department of Economic Development which can provide financial assistance to both businesses and individuals wishing to undertake vocational training.
