To qualify for CA you must:

  • Care for the disabled person for at least 35 hours per week
  • Be aged 16 or over at the date of claim
  • Not be earning more than £192 per week
  • Not be in education of more than 21 hours per week

You must also have been living in the Isle of Man or the United Kingdom for at least 104 weeks (2 years) in the last 156 weeks (3 years) before the date on which you first satisfy all the other rules for CA.

Applying for Carer’s Allowance

Complete the Carer’s Allowance claim form (CA1) and return it to us.

You should claim CA as soon as you satisfy the qualifying conditions. You should also claim if the disabled person is awaiting the outcome of a claim to Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance or Constant Attendance Allowance.

The weekly rate of CA is £165.75.

Payments

Payments of CA can be made:

  • Weekly or every 2 weeks into your bank account, or
