Isle of Man Transport has moved to allay concerns related to using buses, trams and trains as the community adapts to life during the coronavirus pandemic.

The health and safety of customers and colleagues is always the highest priority and procedures have been stepped up, including additional cleaning of all vehicles.

Staff are closely monitoring and in communication with Public Health Isle of Man, the National Health Service, the World Health Organisation and other transport industry bodies for continued guidance to ensure the safety of customers.

Two improvements have been introduced from Tuesday 17 March:
  • The frequency of hygienic cleaning for regularly touched areas such as poles, handrails and doors will increase in addition to regular deep cleans of the bus fleet.
  • Customers are being encouraged to avoid using cash to pay on the bus in order to reduce cash handling, and should instead use either a contactless credit/debit card or a valid Go Card. To support this, the £2 fee for the physical card will temporarily be waived. Please note travel will still be charged as per the Go cards rate. They can be picked up from the Welcome Centre, Ramsey and Port Erin Bus depot and can be topped up online. For more information on these cards and how to top up call +44 1624 662525 or visit www.bus.im/gocards
Services continue to run to their planned timetables and the latest advice is that people can continue to use public transport safely.
