Please be aware that the RTLC operates on an appointment basis only. Please arrange an appointment in advance in order to ensure that an officer is available to assist you.

The Road Transport Licensing Committee (RTLC) is an independent body responsible for regulating the transport of passengers and commercial use of goods vehicles (any vehicle or trailer carrying goods on a public highway which has a maximum laden weight exceeding 3,500kg). It is the duty of the Committee to administer the provisions of the Road Transport Act 2001 ('the Act').

The RTLC office is located in Thie Slieu Whallian, the headquarters of the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFA). DEFA is the sponsoring Department for the RTLC and may make regulations under the Act with respect to any proceedings of the RTLC. DEFA will assist with any RTLC legislative requirements such as the drafting and processing of RTLC legislation. The Minister of DEFA will deal with all matters relating to the RTLC in Tynwald.
