International Co-operation and Asset Recovery Team
The International Co-operation and Asset Recovery Team (ICART) forms part of the Prosecutions Division and plays a central role in the Isle of Man's commitment to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism, and includes the specialised Asset Recovery Unit which identifies, restrains and recovers criminal assets in the Isle of Man.
HM Attorney General is the Central Authority for the Isle of Man, and on his behalf the ICART deals with all mutual legal assistance requests made by, and sent to, other jurisdictions in relation to criminal investigations and prosecutions. The assistance provided to authorities in other jurisdictions includes obtaining evidence, restraining (freezing) assets in the Isle of Man and enforcing confiscation (including non-conviction based confiscation) orders.
ICART operates under the superintendence of HM Solicitor General.
