Check you are eligible

You should ensure that the restrictions on charitable activities will not prevent you from carrying out your charitable aims via your new charity, this includes a restriction on political activity (i.e. lobbying Government), ensuring your aims and decisions are independent (even if your charity is working with others), and trustees and those connected cannot receive any personal benefit. Particularly in a small jurisdiction, it is difficult to ensure that conflict does not arise, and so all charities should have procedures in place that mean that conflicts of interest can be properly managed.

A charity must be established for charitable purposes only, and your charity must set out its purposes in its Governing instruments.
