Industrial Relations Forum
The Industrial Relations Forum (“the Forum”) was established in 2012 as a Sub-Committee of the Council of Ministers (“Council”).
The purpose of the Forum is to promote effective industrial relations between Government and trade unions, to strengthen communications and facilitate positive agenda change at a national level. The Forum does not negotiate terms and/or conditions, nor does it act a collective bargaining body.
Its membership includes Tynwald Members, Trade Unions and officers of the Isle of Man Government as follows:
- Hon P A Gawne MHK, Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture & Member of the Employers’ Side of Whitley Council (Chair)
- Hon W E Teare, MHK, Minister for the Treasury
- Hon J P Shimmin MHK, Minister for Policy and Reform, Cabinet Office; Chair of the Civil Service Commission & Chair of the Employers’ Side of Whitley Council
- Mr T P Wild MLC, Member for Economic Development
Trade Unions: All Trade Unions registered at the General Registry
In attendance : Officers of Government as appropriate to topics
Secretariat: Provided by the Cabinet Office
The Forum’s first meeting took place on 2 May 2012. Meetings are scheduled quarterly, or as required by the Chair. Minister Gawne reports to Council on behalf of the Forum, to ensure that Council Members have a clear line of sight of the issues being raised and discussed at the Forum.
