Summary of responses to sea services survey published

Monday, 3 December 2018

A summary of responses to a survey aimed at informing the development of a new Sea Services Agreement have been published on the Isle of Man Government consultation hub website.

An unprecedented number of people responded to the survey, which took place between 24 September and 7 October 2018. A total of 4,962 were received, including 100 who took part in their capacity as business owners.

The survey was prompted following the Isle of Man Government’s decision to buy the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company in May 2018, when Tynwald agreed that a new agreement would be signed between the Department of Infrastructure and IoMSPC.

The information obtained from the responses will now be used to help formulate the new agreement.

Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer MHK said:

‘The survey attracted a huge response and I thank everyone who took part for their input. The Island’s sea links are a vital part of life for everyone one of us, so gathering views in this way is crucial in being able to understand what residents and businesses would like to see and how the agreement can succeed in making it happen.’
