Road users advised of changes due to road improvements

Friday, 3 November 2017

Road users are advised there could be delays at the Lord Street/Quine’s Corner junction in Douglas from Monday 6 November.

The Department of Infrastructure is commencing a six-week scheme to replace traffic signals, resurface the carriageway and repaint lines.

The carriageway will be resurfaced along Lord Street from the Athol Street junction to just past the Ridgeway Street junction, including Quine’s Corner.

The scheme will be carried out under temporary traffic signals that will operate in a similar manner to the existing traffic lights.

The project has been planned so that for much of the time the junction will operate in the usual way with all the current approach lanes in use, though the pedestrian crossings will have to be taken out of use throughout the works.

The excavation and resurfacing works nearer the end of the scheme will require changes to the way traffic flows are managed, which is likely to cause delays for road users.

The Department apologises for any inconvenience caused during these essential works.

It is expected that the works will be completed by Friday 15 December.
