Officers to relocate to Police Headquarters

Tuesday, 5 April 2016

Officers from the Central Neighbourhood Policing Team will transfer from the lower Douglas police station to Isle of Man Constabulary Headquarters on Wednesday, 6 April 2016.

The move is part of the wider relocation of staff and services being carried out by the Department of Home Affairs.

A reception desk at the lower Douglas station, which is located on Lord Street, will reopen on Tuesday 3 May 2016 and will be staffed between 9.15 and 2.45pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Police are committed to maintaining a public counter in the town centre and longer-term options are currently being considered.

Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson MHK said:

‘The relocation of operational staff from Lord Street will not impact on the level of service provided by the Central Neighbourhood Policing Team. Officers will cover the same area as before, but will be based at Police Headquarters. It will be very much business as usual as far as members of the public are concerned. The relocation will create operational efficiencies and is part of the Department’s focus on reducing costs while protecting frontline services. Vacating the lower Douglas station will also free up the prominent site for potential redevelopment.’
