On arrival at their assigned residential units all prisoners are allocated 2 Personal Officers. These officers provide support and advice throughout a prisoner’s time at Jurby and ensure that contact with family and friends is maintained.
The personal officers work alongside the resettlement team and are responsible for guiding prisoners through their custody management plan. During this process, various risk and needs assessments are conducted in relation to offending behaviour, addiction issues, homelessness, employability etc. Prisoners, who have issues identified, receive advice on how to access support to resolve them. They may also be referred to offending behaviour programmes to address particular requirements.
Personal officers review each prisoner’s situation at least once a week. Personal officers are responsible for compiling various reports on prisoners, which may include incentives and earned privileges reviews, security risk reviews, prison employment, parole reports, etc.
