Warn and Inform

The Government's Mass Notification System allows the Emergency Planning Unit to issue messages about critical information during emergency situations. The system will send you a message advising you on what you need to do in the event of an emergency. For example, we may need you to evacuate from an area and we will send you a message with instructions. We can also ask you questions (i.e. are you safe? Press 1 if you are, press 2 if you need assistance).

The system will send messages via text or email and as to as many different routes and accounts as you register. The system will continue to send you messages until you respond and confirm to us that you are safe. You do not need a smart phone to access this system. For those who do not have access to the internet or a mobile phone, registration can be done on their behalf and with their permission by a family member or friend to receive automated messages via a landline number.

The system is operated by Everbridge. It is your responsibility to update your personal details on the system and if you opt out your information will automatically be deleted from the Everbridge system. We will send three test messages per year and only send critical messages to ensure your safety.
