Announcement: Michaela Morris

Wednesday, 8 May 2019

The Executive Director Health & Care / Deputy Chief Executive of the Department of Health and Social Care has today left her role with the Isle of Man Government.

Michaela Morris joined the newly-merged Department in September 2014, bringing extensive UK and international executive experience.

Known particularly for her highly-developed personal skills and passion for placing people at the heart of her commitment to care, Michaela has maintained her Nurse’s registration throughout her career in addition to an extensive portfolio. In May 2018 she took up the role of strategic leadership to the Nurses and Midwives for the DHSC.

Michaela represented the Department as its Executive member on the Steering Group supporting Sir Jonathan Michael and his team during the independent review of the Island’s health and care system.

It is her hope that Tynwald will approve a wide range of reforms recommended to it in May and that the excellent work of bringing care closer to home will flourish throughout the system.

David Ashford MHK, Minister of Health and Social Care, said:

‘I was delighted that Michaela had the honour recently of launching on behalf of the Isle of Man a Special Interest Group - Small Island Health and Care Systems at the International Foundation for Integrated Care conference in San Sebastian, Spain.

‘I would like to thank her for her dedication, all the help and support she has provided to me personally during my time as Minister and the enormous hard work she has given to the DHSC. I wish Michaela well for the future.’
