Patient panel seeks views on cancer services

Wednesday, 18 April 2018

Cancer patients past and present are invited to help shape future cancer services in the Island at an informal feedback session this week.

A Patient Panel hosted by Macmillan volunteers will be in the Sea Terminal lobby on Friday 20 April in an initiative to capture the voice and experience of patients and their relatives.

The panel comprises people who have personally experienced cancer or helped a loved one through their diagnosis, and works alongside the Cancer Services Team at the Department of Health and Social Care.

Volunteers are keen to hear views on a broad range of services, from hospital appointments to the support offered to patients and their families. All views gathered by the panel will be reviewed to help the Department improve the cancer pathway for patients in the Isle of Man.

Anyone who would like to offer feedback or find out more about the Macmillan Patient Panel is welcome to come along and meet the team between 10am and 2pm.

Panel member Sally McMullen said:

‘I really appreciate having the opportunity to use my personal experience to help cancer services improve and develop – keeping pace with ongoing developments in cancer treatment.’
