Feedback sought over Island’s stop smoking services

Monday, 22 January 2018

Services designed to help people stop smoking are under review – and feedback is being sought to help plan for the future.

The Public Health Directorate wants to hear from people across the Island, including smokers, non-smokers and those who have never used the Quit4You stop smoking service.

The Directorate is also eager to hear from health and care professionals or organisations which may be in contact with clients who smoke, including those who have never referred anyone to the service.

Information will be gathered to evaluate stop smoking services in two ways: an online survey and through discussion groups. All information provided will be treated in the strictest confidence.

The survey can be found by visiting Quit4You.gov.im and takes around 15 minutes to complete.

Three different versions are available:

  • People who have attended the Quit4You service
  • People who have never attended Quit4You
  • Health and care professionals or organisations whose clients may smoke

Participants can enter a draw to win a £50 Shoprite voucher. The survey will close on 12 February.

Small discussion groups are to be established to provide more information on stop smoking services and help plan future provision.

There will be three different groups:

  • People who have used the Quit4You service
  • People who smoke or have quit in the past year without using the Quit4You service
  • Health and care professionals or organisations whose clients may smoke

Two-hour sessions are scheduled to be held in February and will be chaired by independent officials, external to Public Health. Refreshments will be provided and participants will have the opportunity to win a £50 Shoprite voucher.

Anyone who wishes to attend a discussion group or requires further information should email tobacco@gov.im or phone the Public Health Directorate on 642639.
