Regent Dental Care (Douglas) Awarded to Provide Orthodontic Services for Children

Tuesday, 17 October 2017

Regent Dental Care (Douglas) has been awarded a contract by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to provide orthodontic services for children.

Orthodontic treatment specialises in correcting irregularities of the teeth or developing jaws and improving the function and appearance of the mouth and face.  Orthodontic care is available for those children under the age of 18 who meet specific clinical requirements.   Anyone with concerns about their children’s teeth should contact their child’s regular dentist for advice in the first instance.

Regent Dental Care will begin operating the service from Monday 30 October 2017 and is working closely with the DHSC to ensure a smooth transition for patients who are continuing care, entering the service, or awaiting assessment.

Those currently receiving treatment with the DHSC’s Specialist Orthodontist will continue to receive their care at the Central Community Health Centre on Westmoreland Road, Douglas, until the end of December 2017.  After this point any patients with ongoing care needs will be transferred to Regent Dental Care at its Douglas practice to continue with their treatment.  Patients will be advised accordingly.

Patients currently waiting for treatment will be contacted shortly by letter to confirm arrangements for them.  As this will be a busy period, patients are asked not to contact the DHSC or Regent Dental Care at this stage.  Not all patients can commence treatment straight away, although those children with the highest clinical need will be seen as a priority.
