The Animal health team is available during normal office hours. If you send an email or leave a voice message outside of office hours, this will be picked up on the next working day.

Emails and voicemails are not routinely monitored outside of normal office hours. If you have an urgent query regarding animal health or welfare, please contact a private veterinary surgeon or, in an emergency, the police. The police control room can be reached on +44 1624 631212.

Avian Influenza

Thank you to all who reported dead wild birds for Avian Influenza surveillance during winter 2021-22. We are now no longer undertaking extensive wild bird surveillance so it is no longer necessary to report dead wild birds unless you find two or more large waterfowl (such as geese or swans) or six or more smaller birds, all together and freshly dead.
