Showcase of Manx produce at the heart of the TT action

Friday, 1 June 2018

Noa Bake House TTThe Isle of Man’s expanding range of home-grown and reared food and drink is once again at the heart of the TT with the return of the ‘Artisan Island’ food tent on the paddock next to the grandstand in Douglas.

Now in its second year, the seven food outlets within the tent all proudly use Manx produce in their dishes, offering TT revellers a taste of quality Isle of Man ingredients in a variety of different types of food and drink – from the humble pie to Thai and African cuisine.

For 2018 the tent is home to Ballakelly’s Farm to Fork; The Alpine; Noa Bakehouse; The Eatery; Betty Pie Co; Taste Africa; and Thai Thai Restaurant.

Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture, Geoffrey Boot MHK, said:

'The TT is a marvellous opportunity to showcase the wonderful and varied produce available in the Isle of Man.  We are committed to growing the Island’s food and drink industry through our Food Matters strategy and have seen success in expanding this important sector of our economy over the past decade.

'The artisan food tent also sends an important message that thinking local and buying local isn’t just about buying Manx produce in its raw form.  It is as much about supporting cafes, restaurants and outlets that use Manx produce in their dishes – day in and day out – as so brilliantly demonstrated by these seven companies who will be serving thousands of hungry and thirsty spectators at the grandstand over the TT fortnight.

I hope locals and visitors alike who find themselves at the grandstand take the opportunity to sample the wonderful food and drink available.'
