Clypse Reservoir

With this year’s recreational freshwater fishing season soon to start, the Department of Environment, Food & Agriculture, in conjunction with Troutlodge, would like to invite  reservoir anglers to attend an open meeting at the Creg ny Baa starting 7.30pm on Thursday 27 February.

The evening will start with short presentations from DEFA and Troutlodge, the company which supplies rainbow trout to the Island’s reservoirs, followed by an open question and answer session. Light refreshments will be available, as will copies of the Isle of Man Angling Guide, which can also be downloaded from the freshwater fishing pages of the DEFA website www.gov.im/defa

DEFA Minister Phil Gawne, MHK said:

'With its picturesque rivers and reservoirs, and stunning, varied coastline, the Isle of Man provides an enviable variety of opportunities for anglers. DEFA will continue to work with stakeholders and other Departments to conserve our marine and freshwater fish populations, and promote the wonderful angling the Island offers for both residents and visitors.'

The reservoir fishing season starts on 10 March, while the river season commences on 1 April.  All freshwater anglers must possess a valid IoM Government licence. With the exception of Reservoir Season Concessionary licences, all licences are now available online-only at www.gov.im/onlineservices. Concessionary reservoir season licences may be purchased over the counter at DEFA headquarters or at most Island Post Offices (proof of eligibility required).  Assistance and facilities are available at DEFA headquarters, St Johns and at the Welcome Centre, Sea Terminal, Douglas for anyone who does not have their own internet access.
