Wildlife surveys

The Department of Environment, Food, and Agriculture undertakes surveys and collects records relating to its work to protect and conserve the natural heritage of the Isle of Man. A basic habitat survey was undertaken in the 1990s. The phase I ecological survey report can be downloaded on this page.

Records of protected plants and animals are used to assess the status of species and contribute towards protection and management advice. Such records can be submitted on a form which may be downloaded on this page.

If you submit records, please remember to sign the form to indicate that you agree to the collation and dissemination of the data. This allows us to make best use of the records, for environmental decision-making, education, research and other public benefit uses in accordance with DEFA's data access policy (your name will form part of the record but contact details will not be passed to other parties without your consent.
