New Political Delegations for Cabinet Office and Department for Enterprise

Laurence Skelly MHK, Minister for Enterprise, has announced new delegations for the Department for Enterprise following the Lisvane Report and Department restructure.

The Department for Enterprise will now have four Political Members following guidance under the Lisvane Report, with Martyn Perkins MHK stepping down from his delegation.

The Minister commented:

‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank Martyn for his dedication and constructive input over the past year. His enthusiasm for his areas of responsibility and his active engagement with the Department has been very valuable. I wish him well in furthering his political experience and continued engagement with DEFA and the Office of Fair Trading.

‘The realignment of the Department’s Political Members to the developing Executive Agency structure is another milestone in the re-focused Department for Enterprise and will help us guide the dynamic public/private partnership approach forward.’

The Cabinet Office has also announced a new political delegation, with Dr Alex Allinson MHK joining the Department with effect from Monday 5 March 2018.

He takes on the role of Member for the Cabinet Office, succeeding David Ashford MHK who was appointment as Minister for the Department of Health and Social Care in January.

Dr Allinson will retain his positions as Chair of Manx Utilities and Member of the Department of Home Affairs.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle MHK said:

‘Dr Allinson has proven to be a very capable and conscientious Member of the House of Keys and will bring a wide range of skills and new ideas to the Cabinet Office.’

Dr Allinson added:

‘I am looking forward to working for a Department that plays such an important role at the very heart of Government. I am aware of the challenges that lie ahead for the Island and I will focus on making a positive difference.’
