Minister thanks departing Members

Monday, 3 March 2014

Minister for Economic Development John Shimmin MHK has thanked Howard Quayle MHK and Laurence Skelly MHK following the announcement that they are leaving the Department to become Ministers. The Minister commented:

‘I would like to thank Howard Quayle and Laurence Skelly for their hard work and valuable contributions to the Department. I have enjoyed working with them and I wish them well in their respective new roles.

‘With delegated responsibility for the Aircraft Registry, Ship Registry, e-Gaming and Space, Howard Quayle has worked directly with my officers to ensure their continued success. For example, he led the Isle of Man public/private sector delegation at the very successful ICE Totally Gaming event in London recently.

‘Similarly, Laurence Skelly has been a highly visible and popular part of the Tourism and Motorsport teams. He drove the launch and acted as Chair of the Visitor Economy Stakeholder Group, which meets monthly and is helping ensure greater collaboration between industry and the public sector on initiatives to benefit the visitor economy.

‘Once the new team is in place I look forward to working with them to ensure we deliver to the objectives laid out in Vision2020 and maintain our healthy economic growth.’
