Careers advice available for students following 'A' Level and GCSE results

Monday, 13 August 2012

This Thursday 16 August A-level results will be published and the Department of Economic Development’s Employment and Skills Group is inviting students to seek advice from the Careers Service team.

For those receiving A-level results, careers advisers will be present at QEII, Ramsey and Castle Rushen secondary schools during the morning. There will also be staff on hand in the Careers Centre, based at Nivison House, Prospect Hill to offer advice and Douglas students are invited to either call in to the JobCentre, email careers@gov.im or alternatively they can telephone +44 1624 687014 or 685128.

GCSE results day is Thursday 23 August and, although careers advisers will not be present in the schools, students are advised to contact the Careers Centre to make an appointment to talk with an adviser.

Tony Wild MLC, Political Member for the Department of Economic Development with responsibility for Employment and Skills, said:

'I would urge all students to get in touch with our Careers Service team. Results day can be a mixture of emotions, but there is help available for people who need to speak about their next step and to assist students in making the right choices.'

'Our experienced advisers are here to offer professional and impartial advice on what the best choice might be taking into account individual circumstances and goals.'
