Isle of Man wins Best International Finance Centre Award

Friday, 14 June 2013

The Isle of Man has been named ‘Best International Finance Centre’ in the Professional Advisor International Fund and Product Awards 2013 beating last year’s winners, Jersey, into second place. In addition, businesses based in the Isle of Man won over half of this year’s awards.

Chief Minister Allan Bell MHK said:

'This is fantastic recognition for the Isle of Man at a time when the global landscape for financial services is changing. If Government and the private sector continue to work together closely to deliver innovative and excellent services in the manner illustrated by these awards, then the Isle of Man can continue to prosper in that changing world.'

Treasury Minister Eddie Teare MHK added:

'We focused our submission on what had been achieved in relation to international standards and cooperation, the closeness and effectiveness of our relationships with the local financial services sector and the balanced nature of our economy. We have been at the forefront of best practice with regard to international tax and transparency standards building on our well established platforms of pragmatic regulation and consumer protection.'

Minister for Economic Development John Shimmin MHK commented:

'The award for ‘Best International Finance Centre’ is truly a team effort. We would not have been able to secure this without the excellent work of everyone involved from across Government. ‘Our financial services sector can also take great pride in these awards. Their excellence in product offering and customer service has driven the success of the Island’s diverse economy and I am delighted to see that so many Isle of Man-based companies have won their respective categories in these awards. May I take this chance to congratulate all of the Manx winners and thank everyone who worked so hard on the submissions.'

Now in their 14th year, the Awards are in honour of firms in the financial services industry offering products and services across borders. There were over 70 entries to this year’s awards from a wide range of companies in the offshore sector.
