Sure Sports Leaders

The Sure Sports Leaders Programme provides students who are 16 - 18 years old with free training in a variety of different Sports rela training courses and iIn return the students will help facilitate after school club sessions at nearby primary schools. The Sure Sports Leaders will keep a log of all the voluntary hours they do throughout the year in order to pick up the rewards that have been provided by the Sports Development along the way when the students reach certain milestones. The student who logs the most number of voluntary hours in each of the four regions of the Island will win a voucher worth £250 from Sure Cable and Wireless which they can use in store on anything from credit to phone accessories.

Minister for the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure, Hon David Cretney said "This new initiative is investing in young people at all levels. The secondary school students are learning core leadership skills which are tranferable through all sports and they are also putting something back into the community by providing increased opportunities for primary school children to take part in regular physical activity"

Kate Hegarty from Sure said "We are proud to sponsor this great initiative. Sure have always been keen to promote development in young people with events like Sure Apprentice and Sure Skate. The Sports Leaders Programme is a fantastic way of giving young people motivation to become strong leaders. We hope this initiative will really take off and kids of all ages will benefit."
