Digital future for school holiday sports bookings

Wednesday, 17 January 2018

Manx Sport and Recreation will launch an online booking system for its popular school holiday programmes at the end of February.

The system will allow parents to book and pay online for sessions at Easter and beyond and will replace paper applications, saving on printing, postage, staffing and administration costs.

It is in line with the Government’s Digital Strategy which vows to offer the public simple, convenient and automated services.

To register for online booking, parents should complete and return the application form included in the programme for February half-term sporting activities. Schools are distributing this to pupils this month.

Parents will be sent confirmation their account has been set-up, instructions for logging in, security information and a step-by-step guide on how to book places.

Aaron Quinn, Senior Sports Development Officer, said:

‘Moving holiday activities to an online booking system is the next step in a long line of developments at MSR that are enhancing customers’ experience.

‘We have made the process as simple as possible and, once MSR accounts are set up, booking places on our activities can be done at the touch of a button from home or mobile devices.’

Around 10,000 young people take part in school holiday activities facilitated by MSR each year, meeting an aim of the Strategy for Sport – to get more people more active more often.
