International Qualified Teacher Status Programme (iQTS)

The International Qualified Teacher Status (iQTS) award is equivalent to English Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and allows trainees to gain the skills, experience, and knowledge to become excellent, fully qualified teachers while living at home and teaching in local schools. The academic element of this course also provides successful applicants with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.

The Department of Education, Sport and Culture has secured five places on the course commencing in September 2023. The priority subject areas are maths, English, physics, biology and chemistry and all course fees will be paid. On successful completion of the programme newly qualified teachers will be able to apply for teaching posts on the Island.
