- Link Adviser to a group of schools providing support and challenge to secure school improvement and validating the judgments in each school's Self Review and Evaluation
- Analyses examination results and holds schools to account as well as reporting back to the Department
- Contributes to review and validation exercises in secondary schools
- Coordinates the DEC procedures to support pupils' transition for Year 6 to Year 7
- Coordinates the Headstart Programmes for pupils about to enter KS3 who are below Level 4 in English or Maths
- Coordinates support for primary newly qualified teachers and assures the quality of this provision to ensure that the Department fulfils its role as the 'Appropriate Body'
- Represents the DEC on the Religious Education & Advisory Committee (REAC)
- Coordinates support for secondary newly qualified teachers
- Line manages the ICT Advisory Teachers
