Corporate Services Division
The Corporate Services Division is responsible for a range of functions including the following:
- Policy development and review
- Strategic planning, including business and financial planning and business continuity planning
- Research, development and progression of primary and secondary legislation
- Collation and presentation of the Department's revenue and capital estimates
- Financial control, including the production of management information reports for, schools and external divisions of the Department, monitoring expenditure against budgets and ensuring compliance with financial regulations
- Managing and processing grants for students in higher education;
- Leading the Department’s re-structuring, redeployment and redundancy programme
- Leading the Department’s work with unions
- Provision of advice on DEC legislation, policies and procedures
- Advice and supervision on financial administration within schools, the College of Further and Higher Education and external divisions of the Department
- School Governor and Education Council support
- Working with schools, children and their families to improve pupil attendance
- Licensing children appearing in entertainments
- Monitoring the employment of children and ensuring compliance with the Employment of Children Regulations
- Administration of endowment funds
- Providing transport for children with special needs
- Modern foreign language support for schools
- Managing the Department’s work experience programme
- Arts development
- Arts Council support
- Handling official complaints
- Project work
- Secretarial, counter and postal services
- Events organisation
- Insurance matters
- Letting of Primary schools
