Records

Records of pupils' enrolment at a school should be retained indefinitely. When a child transfers from one school to another, the following should be transferred to the new school: Copies of school reports, Special Education Needs (SEN) file (if applicable), child protection record (if applicable), RIDDOR accident record (if applicable), health record, attendance and suspension record. When a child leaves the school system, the above records should be retained for 3 years. SEN records should be retained indefinitely. All records on individuals, whether kept on a computer or in paper form, should be of a professional nature and be made available to parents or guardians or the students themselves, if over the age of 18, upon demand. Data Protection legislation provides regulations governing the access to records.
