Small Grants are for overseas projects delivered by Manx Registered charities over a period of two years. The budget allocated for Small Grants is £270,000 per year, or £540,000 over each two-year funding cycle and grants may be provided for up to 90% of total project costs, awarding grants from £10,000 to the maximum of £100,000. Any project funded will be required to meet the international development policy objectives agreed by the Council of Ministers. Funding will be paid in two instalments in line with financial regulations. The second instalment will be provided following the submission of a satisfactory end of year one report.
Applicants will be required to be Isle of Man Registered Charities under the Charities Registration and Regulation Act 2019. Small Grants projects will need to demonstrate the ability to raise a minimum of 10% of the total funding allocated from fundraising, or other donors. Applications will need to include a communications plan setting out specifically how they will publicise any project funded on the Island by the Isle of Man Government, as well as detailed budget, project deliver plan, safeguarding plan and risk assessment.
The four objectives that support the International Development policy are -
- Ensure that international development funding is targeted to support projects that meet the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Focus International Development funding on those countries ranked as 'Low Development' on the United Nations Human Development Index
- Provide a swift response to international humanitarian crises
- Support the voluntary sector in raising awareness of global development issues throughout the Manx population
The application round for the 2023 to 2025 funding period has now closed. Applicants will be notified by the end of November.
