Health and Care Transformation

Introduction

The Health and Care Transformation Programme is being delivered by the Cabinet Office in conjunction with the Department of Health and Social Care and the Treasury in order to deliver on the 26 recommendations set out in Sir Jonathan Michael’s Independent Review of the Isle of Man’s Health and Social Care System.

Programme Update:

As part of the planned work within the Programme and in support of Recommendation 9 from Sir Jonathan's Final Report, with effect from 1 April 2020 the Public Health Directorate now sits within the Cabinet Office.

Progress was also made to prepare for the creation of Manx Care, an entirely new organisation for the Isle of Man that will be responsible for health and care services from April 2021 onwards.  The legislation required to establish this organisation - the Manx Care Bill - was introduced in the House of Keys in June 2020, marking the start of its parliamentary journey and recruitment has commenced for the new Manx Care Board.
