Digital Inclusion

The Digital Inclusion Strategy 2016-2021 brings together partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors to help people get online. It’s part of the Government’s Digital Strategy, which aims to bring more services online and help more people to access them.

The Get Online Centre located next to the Welcome Centre in the Sea Terminal is a dedicated space for developing digital skills and awareness. The new Centre is part of Isle of Man Government initiative to reduce digital exclusion.

The aim is to improve access and confidence in digital services by providing free access to computers and training to develop digital skills, learning to use devices and be safe online. Find out more at Get Online Centre.

Helping more people to get online can help them benefit from access to training and jobs, social and leisure activities and to access internet shopping. Being online can also help to address wider social issues and support economic growth.

Learning opportunities

Gain skills in:

• Basic computer literacy
• Microsoft office software
• Social media usage
• Tablet functionality

If you would like to develop your skills there are lots of learning opportunities available at University College Isle of Man, Age Concern, Leonard Cheshire drop-in and libraries in Ramsey, Peel, Onchan, Castletown, Douglas and Port Erin.

There are also lots of opportunities to volunteer your digital skills and expertise with a local charity or voluntary group, or informally support family, friends, colleagues or neighbours. For more information about volunteering and local charities, visit Volunteer.
