Securing Added Value and Efficiencies (SAVE) Programme

To be a financially responsible government while delivering appropriate services for our nation is a priority of our Programme for Government.

Government must save £25 million over the next five years to help balance its budget.

The challenge for us all – the public, Tynwald Members, government departments and its employees - was to identify opportunities, initiatives and projects to help meet this target.

We invited you to join our challenge on how we could deliver our public services in new and innovative ways. You were invited to submit your ideas during April/May 2017 using our online Dialogue ideas hub. These included for example, outsourcing, partnering and using technological solutions. Postcards and SAVE newspaper reply slips have also been included to encourage people without online access to take part.

You responded with over 1,300 ideas!

We are still working on the evaluation and appraisal of some ideas, prior to further publication of our SAVE priorities in February 2018, within the Budget 2018-19.
