Planned and Current Works
CURRENT WORKS:
St Judes to Sandygate - mains replacement:
The Authority is progressing on a scheme to replace mains between St Judes crossroads and Sandygate which have burst on numerous occasions in recent years. Open trench excavation at St Judes commenced in March. The scheme will probably be complete by May 2010 and includes the main in the West Craig loop road which is planned to be done during TT week to lessen the impact on traffic flows. The mains are situated within the carriageway and all works on the main road (A13) will be under traffic management in the form of traffic lights with a rolling road closure on the smaller loop road.

Glen Maye to Patrick works - relining mains:
The Water Authority would like to thank all residents for the cooperative spirit shown whilst these essential works were being carried out. This means that the outdated Glen Maye Water Treatment Works can now be decommissioned as Glen Maye High Level Service Reservoir is now being supplied direct from the new Sulby Water Treatment Works via the new Ballacallin Pump Station. Additionally, residents in the area Patrick to Glen Maye Village are now being supplied in a similar fashion via the new distribution main and services.
Ballagawne - new Service Reservoir: March 2010
The Water Authority are currently constructing a new Service Reservoir at Ballagawne to replace the existing one which is oversize for the supply area. The Principal contractor, Island Drainage & Groundwork Limited, are now a third of the way through construction with the project on schedule. The picture below shows the pump supplying concrete into the excavation and forming the foundation level of the new Service Reservoir. Once this work is complete, at the end of March, work will commence on the reinforced concrete structure.

Water Authority To Submit Planning Application For New Service Reservoir In The North Of The Island: March 2010
The Isle of Man Water Authority held an open evening in Ramsey on Wednesday 3 March 2010, and will have a Public Meeting later in March, to describe its plans for a new, covered Service Reservoir above Glen Auldyn. Following these meetings and using the feedback that it obtains, the Authority will submit a planning application to construct a new 6.5 million litre (1.5 million gallon) Service Reservoir for the North of the Island.
This work is required as part of the Authority’s ongoing Strategic Business Plan, approved by Tynwald in 1999, to supply treated water of a consistently high standard from the new Sulby Water Treatment Works to residents in the North of the Island.
Located off the B16, Glen Auldyn Road, the new Ramsey Service Reservoir will provide underground storage of treated water for the whole of the North of the Isle of Man.
