Specific Policies
In support of this principal objective, the Water Authority aims:
- To supply water to EU water quality standards at all times.
- To supply water at sufficient flow and pressure for domestic pressures to all customers within the compulsory area of supply and by contract to customers outside that area.
- To provide a customer service which meets a wide range of standards and to achieve these standards of service at reasonable cost.
- To steadily improve efficiency through making the best possible use of the resources of income, manpower and physical assets.
- To consult with customers about their present and future needs.
- To deal with any problems as promptly, effectively and sympathetically as possible.
- To conserve, protect, manage and develop its water resources.
- To manage its assets through annually reviewing its Business Plan and through which it defines the outputs and assesses the total expenditure needs.
- To recruit and motivate staff whilst seeking to introduce improvements in manpower utilisation, including the development and training of its manpower resources to meet these objectives.
- To promote the safety, health and welfare of its employees.
- To manage its expenditure to provide value for money at all times.
- To pay for the cost of discharging its functions and responsibilities by levying a water rate and by making charges.
- To keep Government advised, generally by consultation, on its activities and plans through the Department of Trade and Industry and other Government Departments, etc. as specified in the Water Act 1991.
