About Us

The Isle of Man Water & Sewerage Authority is a Statutory Board of the Isle of Man Government (Tynwald) primarily operates under the terms of the Water Act 1991, the Statutory Boards Act 1987 and the Statutory Boards Amendment Act 2001.
The Authority’s Mission is to provide a safe, reliable and high quality water supply to customers’ homes and businesses, to provide effective and efficient sewerage and sewage treatment infrastructure and to act as the flood risk management authority for the Island. At the same time the Authority has placed customer service, quality of life, and sound infrastructure as core objectives. Our services our delivered in compliance with the 1991 Water Act, the 1999 Sewerage Act, the 1934 Land Drainage Act and other Acts of Tynwald and directives from central Government.
The Authority’s staff possess a broad spectrum of technical and managerial knowledge, and include: water engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, drainage engineers, sewage treatment specialists, water quality scientists and skilled craftsmen, together with secretarial, administrative, finance, IT and customer services personnel.
The Water and Sewerage Authority had an approved organisation structure of 162 fulltime employees. The Board remains committed to achieving efficiencies and the replacement of any post which becomes vacant will be reviewed and a business case will be submitted before any appointment may proceed.
