We now operate a rolling register and provided that you meet the criteria as stated , you may be added to the register.
Instructions on how to complete the form are prominently positioned and should be read thoroughly before details are recorded in the spaces provided. If at all in doubt guidance can be sought from any officer at the Registration Unit at Illiam Dhone House, 2 Circular Road, Douglas (Tel. 685754).
The Electoral Register is the only source available to ensure that eligible residents have the opportunity to participate in the democratic processes of the Island. Failure to register will result in the loss of voting rights in all national or local elections and any referendum that may be called during the period the Register is in force. Is is important that the forms are completed and returned to ensure your eligibility to vote in any forthcoming local Elections.
In addition to the Electoral Register, an Edited Register is produced and is available for purchase by any interested parties, such as marketing agencies. To be excluded from the Edited Register the registration form must be marked in accordance with the instructions provided. Certain credit reference agencies are permitted access to the Electoral Register to confirm the residential details of person applying for various forms of credit, from personal loans to mortgages. Exclusion from the Edited Register will not affect these searches. It is, however, often the case that credit has been refused if persons have failed to register at all.
