Our Purpose
There are eight main items that collectively outline the purpose of the Customs and Excise Division
- Collecting indirect taxes and duties
- Protecting society by enforcing controls on imported drugs, prohibited and restricted goods and combating the threat posed by money laundering activities
- Assisting the development of the Island’s economy
- Providing a quality service to our customers
- Providing policy advice to Treasury
- Assisting in the collection of IOM and UK trade statistics
- By safeguarding and developing the Single Market, promote international trade and the competitiveness of Isle of Man commerce
- Ensuring that the law, practice and procedures relating to Customs and Excise matters conforms with our obligations under the Customs and Excise Agreement
